Wakarusa Ag has been selling Penta vertical TMR feed mixers since 2001 — longer than we have been selling almost anything else. Franklin Martin purchased his first Penta mixer for his own dairy farm, saw what it did for production and animal health, and decided other northern Indiana farmers needed access to the same technology. Over the past 25 years, we have sold hundreds of Penta units and become one of the largest TMR mixer dealers in the Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan tri-state area.
That depth of experience means when you buy a Penta mixer from Wakarusa Ag, you are buying from people who have run these machines on their own farms and have fixed every failure mode that exists.
What Is a TMR Mixer?
TMR stands for Total Mixed Ration. A TMR mixer blends all components of a dairy or beef ration — hay, silage, grain, supplements, and straw — into a consistent, homogenous mix. When every animal pulls from the same total mixed ration, you see improved production, more consistent components, and better overall herd health compared to feeding ingredients separately.
Penta vertical mixers use a top-loaded, single or twin auger design. The vertical auger configuration handles long-stem hay and straw without the pre-processing that horizontal mixers often require, making them particularly well-suited to dairy operations that use dry hay in their ration.

Service and Support for Penta Mixers
We service Penta mixers in-shop and in the field across northern Indiana. Given the critical nature of feed mixing equipment in a dairy operation, we prioritize mixer service calls. If we cannot repair your mixer the same day, we will bring you a loaner unit so your animals get fed on schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions — TMR Mixers
What size TMR mixer do I need for my dairy operation?
Sizing depends on your herd size, the number of different rations you mix, and your feeding frequency. As a general rule, plan for 1.5 to 2 cubic feet of mixer capacity per cow fed per load. A 150-cow dairy feeding twice daily would typically use a mixer in the 100 to 150 cubic foot range. Call us with your herd size and we will give you a specific recommendation.
Can you service a Penta mixer I bought elsewhere?
Yes. We service Penta mixers regardless of where they were purchased. Call 574-862-1163 to schedule service.
Do you carry used Penta mixers?
We occasionally have used Penta and other brand mixers in our inventory. Check our Used Equipment page or call us to ask about current availability.
